Burger King’s Spider-Verse Stuff!
As if I wasn’t already excited for the new Spider-Man:Across The Spider-Verse enough, I find out Burger King decided to give us a lovely Spider-Man themed promotion. And let’s be honest here, a fun sequel is great but when it gets a fast food promotion? It becomes a full fledged event. Don’t believe me? Look no further than the iconic Ghostbusters 2/Hardees promotion, which for me personally, is the golden standard for movie tie in’s. I rest my case…
So there I am. After work, I got a few bucks in my pocket, an empty stomach, and a world full of red and black, 8 legged dreams. The siren song of the fast food promo knows how to lure me in like none other. Besides, the last time I had a crazy whopper like this was that Halloween Whopper back in 2015. Could be a fun challenge, despite the no doubt red and black “aftermath” to follow in the next few days.
Did I mention….CROWNS?!?!?!?! As if I wasn’t excited enough for this momentous occasion, this sent me over the edge. But what a fine, delicious edge it was.
There it is. The compete offerings….minus the kids meal. If I were quicker on my feet, I would’ve paid for the kids meal stuff but I was already bringing more attention to myself by taking 87 photos of the menu screen and every inch of the restaurant already. If Burger King hired security guards, I can only almost guarantee I would’ve been thrown out by now like DJ Jazzy Jeff. But at least I would’ve had my crown!
Truth be told, there’s no real discernible difference between this and a regular Whopper. Other than Swiss cheese being added and a red bun, I don’t think I would know the difference. Although, I must confess, as much as I don’t like fast food like I used to, the inclusion of the Swiss cheese kinda made the burger itself taste better which leads me to believe that Swiss cheese on a burger is truly the way to go from now on. I suppose that’s enough to completely disregard my first sentence of this paragraph. Great. Now I just look silly.
The ice cream sundae was a nice treat. Nothing mind blowing but for someone who has been watching his trim (see: very burly) figure, this is a welcomed treat. Simply soft serve ice cream with little spiders all over. Not too many either, which tsoftens the “I’m eating fast food and I know this is just atrocious for me” blow. I mean, who doesn’t deserves a nice cold treat on a lovely day like today?
Despite their appearance, they do not have the candy/Nerds consistency, they’re more along the lines of a Carvel Crunchy. And if you know me, you know I love Carvel so this made me even happier.
I definitely recommend grabbing one of these Whoppers and sundaes, even if you’re not excited for the new Spidey adventure, this will definitely make you happy in a most radioactive way. I don’t know how long this promotion will last, but I know I can’t say no to a Swiss cheese whopper…
And yes….CROWNS.
