Turkey Time Kickoff: Perdue Turkey Nuggets!

Welcome to Turkey Time here on The BBQ! A celebration of that fantastic holiday know as Thanksgiving that brings everyone together to…well…gorge on food, I suppose. For the next week or so, I’m gonna bring you some fun Tgiving goodness including a very special (and warning: very unstable) TPIF episode! So put on your favorite football jersey, sweat pants, pour some Cranberry Ginger Ale and get ready for the parade of insanity here on this blog because it’s gonna be…well…kinda weird!

We’re officially just 8 days away from Thanksgiving and I couldn’t be more excited. Something about mid-November always just re-energizes me. No matter how great or maybe taxing the rest of year may have been, I always know Thanksgiving is gonna be a great day. Whether it’s starting off with a parade, the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon, or the Mashed Potaters and stuffing, it just brings me utter joy. Ya know what also brings me utter joy? Perdue’s Thanks Nuggets!

Finding new ideas to spice up my Thanksgiving day plate has been a little challenging but I seem to find something fun and new every year so I’m glad I was able to get my hands on these because they are a game changer. Apparently these were also released last year during the “dark period” but they were deemed so popular and well received, they got a chance to play a second season.

This year though, Perdue added a bonus by offering (online exclusive) dipping sauces to compliment these fun Turkey shaped nuggets. Spiced Apple Honey Mustard and CranBBQ Sauce sold out almost instantly and quite frankly I’m seriously envious of anyone who scored a set. These sound and look amazing!

Well there they are! The Turkey nuggs are shaped in the form of an actual turkey and turkey leg! Perfect! I mean if you’re not exactly in the mood to roast a turkey, wanna have a minimalist Thanksgiving evening and plan on keeping it rather low key, these are perfect for you. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if I dipped into this bag later that night. I mean can’t you picture sitting on the couch with a plate of these and some leftovers while watching Christmas Vacation?

They’re pretty tasty and I think I like these more than I do regular chicken nuggets. They’re meatier, have a little more flavorful and even breaded in sweet potato breading. I’m not normally a sweet potato fan but mixing it with these nuggets somehow works for me. Otherwise, ya know, I wouldn’t have just spent the last million words writing about them.

I don’t know about you but having a pregame warmup before the big day started my Thanksgiving excitement to rev up pretty fast. So much so that I decided to try my hand at making mashed potatoes(they tasted better than they looked. I’m no Guy Fieri of course) and added some side dishes to get in the spirit of things. And for dessert? A nice pumpkin muffin because we all need a little pumpkin in every meal between September and November!

Highly recommend these if you’re looking for a nice quick way to get into the spirit of this fun holiday, even more recommended if you wanna buy 14 bags at your local Food Lion and horde them all year round! I wouldn’t blame you tbh and I don’t think anyone else would either!!!
